This fun and engaging themed workshop is great as a first make and take but also for those who have experience. We will explore the hand-out and ideas designed by Karen Woods, Early Literacy Specialist. We will make games with the die cutter and games to go with props from the party store. There will be activities to develop math (counting, sequencing, sizes), literacy, fine and gross motor skills and much more.
PICTURE PERFECT! A MAKE AND TAKE

Gather pictures of the children in your daycare and make learning games. Your children become the stars in games/activities such as memory, musical pictures, homemade books, feltboard rhymes, lacing, sequencing and counting.

FALLING INTO FUN
Join Carrie Webb for fall based science activities: harvest festivals, field trip ideas, gross motor activities, fine motor, cognitive, and perceptual activities, dramatic play, sensory activities, group activities, decorations, songs and storytelling patterns and words. Many samples to view and a great supporting hand-out. Carrie Webb, R.E.C.E. is the Supervisor of the Barrhaven Nursery School and an instructor at Algonquin College. INTRODUCTION TO THE OTTAWA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Learn about the free services the library has to offer caregivers. This workshop will focus on services of value to caregivers from the on-line services of the website and catalogue to programs and collections available at your local branch. ENFANTS + YOGA = GÉNIAL
Viviane Ouellette, instructrice de yoga, propose un atelier interactif et amusant pour apprendre à intégrer les bienfaits du yoga dans la routine quotidienne de votre service de garde. Through this workshop you will discover the six skills children need in order to be ready to learn to read. Learn fun ways to share reading and language with your children. Join Jane Venus, Mon. Sept. 27th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at CCPRN.
THANKSGIVING/HALLOWEEN CRAFTS
Join Julie Martel on Tues. Sept. 28th, 7 – 9 p.m., at CCPRN to view sample crafts and to share ideas. There will be a few fresh ideas/samples as well as some from last year’s craft workshop using both die cuts and supplies you have around the house. If you have some great ideas, bring them along to share with your fellow caregivers. Tip: Bring your camera to help you remember exactly how to do the craft at home with your daycare children.
RELATIONSHIP MATTERS
How do we provide direction and discipline without it backfiring? It is in the relationship between the caregiver and the child. Relationship is the most important part of parenting and caregiving. In this
2 part workshop we will watch and discuss a video presented by Dr. Gordon Neufeld entitled and Teaching Today’s Children”. We will discuss how to put Dr. Neufeld’s ideas into practice in a daycare home. Join us and discover new ways to ensure the “attachment process” between you and your daycare children. Thurs. HAUNTED HOUSE STORYBOARD
Join Doreen Cowin on Mon. Oct. 4th, 7-9 p.m. at CCPRN and make Halloween stories, songs and games. The feltboard stories can be used with/played on the haunted house storyboard that you will make at the workshop. You will also make an outline game, a glove puppet and number sentences/rhymes. FEE: $15.00. A small French hand-out is available.
HANDFELTING – WALDORF STYLE
Bring “The Mouse and The Pumpkin” story to life with needle felted props. Share the art of story-telling with your little ones. In this workshop you will learn to needle felt a 3 dimensional pumpkin, a mouse and his friends. We will also discuss the fine points of captivating our small audiences with tales that spark imaginative thought. Join Annie Boudreau on Wed. Oct. 6th from 7-9:30 p.m.

KIDS + YOGA = FUN
Join yoga instructor Viviane Ouellette for an interactive, fun filled workshop during which you will learn how to integrate yoga into your daily daycare routine. You will learn how to do the basic postures as Viviane guides you through several adventure stories, after which you will make props that you can use in your home program.
You will leave with a practical handout featuring songs, story and craft ideas as well as a list of books & internet resources. Bring your inner child and come prepared to engage in yoga play – wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel to sit on.

ALL AROUND THE CIRCLE
If you love circle time - or if you dread circle time - come and learn new songs/activities, how to plan and manage circle for mixed age groups. CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS : HOME CHILD CARE TRAINING, OTTAWA: LEVEL 2, UNIT 2
Join Stephen Alexander, B.A., M.S.W. from the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa and learn about preventing child abuse and neglect. Information on your duty to report, how to identify signs of abuse and neglect, and what happens with your calls will be provided. TIME FOR TODDLERS
Toddlers are terrific! Learn games, songs, music and storytelling activities, creative art activities, even science to keep your toddlers happy and learning. Join Carrie on Mon. Nov.1st from 7 – 9 p.m. at CCPRN. You will leave with an extensive hand-out of toddler ideas, renewed energy and confidence, as well as a toddler friendly glove puppet that you will make at the workshop. Early Identification and Intervention of Speech and Language Delays (from birth to 2 years)
Free training for ECEs, Home Care Providers & Community Workers:
During this presentation, participants will review developmental milestones, list high-risk indicators & identify red flags in young children. This session will highlight the importance of early identification of language delays and discuss how to refer to the First Words program. There will be a special focus on sharing concerns with parents of the children in your care.

Die cutter clothing |
Receive 3 dolls cut from skin toned felt. Die cut clothing pieces and decorate them with lace, ribbon, marker, fabric scraps, etc. Make Halloween costumes for the dolls (optional). |
What to bring:
A basic craft kit of markers and/or pencil crayons, ruler, glue stick, scissors for fabric and paper, scraps of lace, ribbon, trims to decorate your doll clothes. Bring money if you wish to use the laminator, or wish to purchase additional Storyteller Felt Sets or CCPRN Resource Kits.

The importance of good business practice: regulatory and legal requirements, reporting income, utilizing written agreements and related forms, maintaining appropriate records and liability insurance. Calculations of income and expenses for the setting of fees and the preparation of income tax returns. Determining child care needs in the community and of filling vacancies.
Unit 10: Starting Off Right
Factors that help to establish good relationships between parents and caregivers. Recognizing parents’ feelings and concerns regarding their child care arrangements.
