Understanding Schemas: Recognizing what they are and supporting your children’s development.

Event Type: Workshops

Date: June 19, 2019 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
Location: CCPRN, 30 Colonnade Rd., Unit 275, Ottawa

Capacity: 20

Description: Ever wonder why children do certain things? Why do they dump all the toys? Why do they feel the need to throw things? Wondering why some children hoard all the toys in a bag? Or hide them all around the house instead? These are actual urges that children have to climb, throw and hide things. These repeated behaviours shape connections in the brain which build pathways for learning and growth. If we miss learning about this area of brain development, then we may think that our children are being “difficult” and even try to stop these developmental urges. Join us as we learn about the different types of schemas, discuss materials/activities which can support these urges, and look at their actions in a fresh new light.
